MSCC AutoSolo 2020

26th September 2020

The 2020 Club AutoSOLO, supported by Richard Thorne Classic Cars, will take place as part of Mogfest at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon on Saturday 26 September.

Draft Regulations

 Entry Form

For those who have not seen an AutoSOLO before, you can compete in any road legal four-wheeled Morgan – there is no need for any special preparation, roll cages or fire extinguishers that the racers must use. Some of the more dedicated may put a bit more air into their front tyres and take the spare wheel off the back though! See below for some videos to give an idea of what’s involved.

The aim is to drive around a set course, denoted by number boards and traffic cones, as quickly as possible. We will run two courses at Gaydon, the second being the reverse of the first, and the best two of three times for each course will denote your score – lowest score wins. Penalties are added for hitting cones, while going the wrong way earns a maximum score (the fastest time in class plus 30 seconds).

We will run three classes, one for four cylinder cars, one for six and eight cylinder cars, and a third class for ‘experts’, who have either won their class in the Club AutoSOLO in the last three years, or compete in the Morgan Challenge or Speedmog Championship.

The event will run from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm, with drivers being able to arrive at any time before 3.00 pm to sign on and compete – the course will be reversed every hour or so, or sooner as demanded, so you do not need to be here all day, and you can enjoy all of the other activities that Mogfest has to offer.

The event costs £12 per competitor for a total of six runs, three on each course. Cars can be shared between multiple drivers. A driver can buy additional scorecards, each permitting another set of six runs, for £5 a card, although we will ask drivers doing so to give priority to drivers competing on their first card during busy spells. Only your best card will count to the overall results, which means that you cannot mix and match your best runs from different cards.

You can download the regulations here and your entry form here. Please complete this and email it to SportsMog@MorganSportsCarClub.com Please make payment of £12 online using the bank details contained on the entry form. To compete you must also have a valid UK or equivalent driving licence. You must also hold at a minimum a Motorsport UK RS Clubmans licence; this can be obtained online at https://rsclubman.motorsportuk.org/ by completing a simple form which takes less than five minutes to complete and is FREE.

Entries will be accepted on the day, and RS Clubman licences can also be issued on the day. However, it will be easier for us and you if you enter and obtain a licence in advance to reduce the form filling required at the event. Additional cards will only be purchasable on the day.

See the advertisement in Miscellany (or click here) for more details of Mogfest which takes place at Walton Hall Hotel & Spa and The British Motor Museum, Gaydon on 25 – 26 September. The official accommodation/event packages represent great value and the full event programme includes a Welcome BBQ plus the Annual Dinner with Guest Speaker and Disco.
