MSCC 75th - Morgan History

May 08, 2026

!!! 56 DAYS TO GO!!!

Did you know....

As we celebrate 75 years of the Morgan Sports Car Club, it is only fitting to reflect on the remarkable history of the cars that bring us all together.

The story of Morgan begins in 1909, when H.F.S. Morgan built his first vehicle in Malvern. His innovative three-wheeler quickly gained popularity for its lightweight design, performance, and distinctive character, establishing the foundations of what would become the Morgan Motor Company.

Throughout the early years, Morgan built a reputation for engineering ingenuity and motorsport success. The introduction of the 4-4 in 1936 marked an important step forward as the company’s first four-wheeled car, combining traditional craftsmanship with evolving automotive design.

What makes Morgan truly unique is its commitment to tradition. To this day, every car is hand-built in Malvern, using a blend of time-honoured techniques and modern engineering. The iconic ash wood frame remains a defining feature, paired with aluminium bodywork and increasingly advanced technology.

Over the decades, models such as the Plus 4, Plus 8, and more recent designs have continued to evolve, while still retaining the unmistakable Morgan identity. This balance of heritage and innovation is what sets the marque apart.

Despite changes in ownership and the wider automotive industry, Morgan has remained true to its roots, producing cars that prioritise driving experience, individuality, and craftsmanship over mass production.

For Morgan owners, this rich history is not just something to admire, but something to be part of. Each car carries with it over a century of heritage, connecting past, present, and future.

As we celebrate 75 years of the MSCC, we also celebrate more than 100 years of Morgan – a story of innovation, craftsmanship, and enduring passion.
