!!! 28 DAYS TO GO!!!

75 Years of MSCC – Did You Know?

As part of our Countdown to 75, we've been looking back through the history of the Morgan Sports Car Club and uncovering some fascinating facts from the last seven and a half decades.

Did you know that when the Club was founded in 1951, the annual subscription was just £2? That same year, the Club adopted the colours we still recognise today: Light Blue, Red and Black.

The Club was a very different organisation in those early years. In 1961, membership stood at just 137 members, growing to 174 members by 1965 and 258 members by 1968. Today, the MSCC has thousands of members and affiliated clubs around the world.

One of the more charming milestones came in 1962, when the Club purchased its first typewriter. Long before computers, email and websites, this was cutting-edge technology for running the Club and producing communications for members.

The Morgan Sports Car Club itself was born in 1971, when members voted to change the name from the Morgan 4/4 Club to the Morgan Sports Car Club, reflecting the wider range of Morgan models and owners joining the Club.

The Club's events have evolved too. In 1977, the first event officially known as a MOG was held at Ragley Hall, establishing a tradition that continues to this day. Since then, MOGs and MogFests have brought together thousands of Morgan enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond.

The Club's publications have also grown over the years. Miscellany became a monthly publication in 1975, moved to A4 format with a cover photograph in 1996, and became a full-colour magazine in 2001.

These are just a few highlights from a remarkable history spanning 75 years. From a small gathering of enthusiasts in Kegworth to a thriving international community of Morgan owners, the MSCC has come a long way while remaining true to its founding spirit of friendship, motoring and shared enthusiasm for Morgan cars.
