75 Years of MSCC – The Plus Six
As we celebrate 75 years of the Morgan Sports Car Club, we're taking a closer look at some of the cars that have helped shape the modern Morgan story. Few have had a greater impact in recent years than the Morgan Plus Six.
Introduced in 2019, the Plus Six marked a significant milestone for Morgan. While retaining the unmistakable silhouette and handcrafted character that enthusiasts have loved for generations, it introduced an entirely new aluminium CX-Generation platform, bringing increased rigidity, improved dynamics and modern engineering to the traditional Morgan formula.
Powered by a turbocharged BMW 3.0-litre straight-six engine producing 335 bhp, the Plus Six combined effortless performance with classic roadster styling. With a 0-62 mph time of just 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 166 mph, it became one of the fastest production Morgans ever built.
Yet despite its impressive performance, the Plus Six remained unmistakably Morgan. Traditional craftsmanship, hand-formed bodywork and the marque's renowned attention to detail ensured that every car retained the unique character that defines Morgan ownership. The result was a sports car that successfully bridged the gap between heritage and modernity.
After almost 1,000 examples were delivered to customers around the world, Morgan announced the Plus Six Pinnacle, a special limited-edition model created to celebrate and conclude Plus Six production. Limited to just 30 examples, the Pinnacle represents the ultimate expression of the Plus Six and showcases Morgan's bespoke craftsmanship at its finest.
The Pinnacle features a carefully curated selection of the most desirable bespoke options requested by customers throughout the life of the Plus Six. Highlights include luxurious natural sheepskin carpets, teak marquetry inspired by traditional craftsmanship, unique stitchwork developed by Morgan's trim specialists and a choice of exclusive interior themes. Every detail was designed to create a fitting farewell to one of Morgan's most successful modern models.
The name "Pinnacle" itself reflects the car's purpose. Inspired in part by Pinnacle Hill in the nearby Malvern Hills, it represents the culmination of the Plus Six story and the highest expression of the model's development.
As Morgan continues its journey with new models and technologies, the Plus Six will be remembered as a landmark car. It introduced a new generation of owners to the marque, demonstrated what modern Morgan engineering could achieve and carried the tradition of the high-powered Morgan sports car into the twenty-first century.
Did you know? The Plus Six was the first Morgan production car to feature a factory-fitted turbocharged engine and remained one of the fastest production Morgans ever built, capable of reaching 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds.
