Morgan Motor Company has unveiled the Midsummer Coupé, an exciting new chapter in one of the company's most ambitious coachbuilding projects.
The original Midsummer, created in collaboration with the renowned Italian design house Pininfarina, was introduced in 2024 as a limited run of 50 bespoke barchettas. Every example was individually commissioned and hand-built, celebrating Morgan's craftsmanship while previewing elements of the marque's evolving design language.
Now, Morgan has revealed an even more exclusive evolution of that concept.
Limited to just nine customer commissions, the Midsummer Coupé transforms the open-top Midsummer into a striking fixed-head grand tourer. Rather than simply adding a roof, Morgan's designers have created an entirely new silhouette featuring a dramatic glazed canopy, bespoke aluminium bodywork and a beautifully sculpted rear profile inspired by classic European GT cars.
The project reportedly began with a single customer asking Morgan what a fixed-roof Midsummer might look like. That idea quickly gathered momentum and has resulted in one of the most technically ambitious coachbuilt Morgans ever produced.
Built on Morgan's latest CX-Generation aluminium platform and powered by the BMW straight-six engine found in the Supersport 400, the Midsummer Coupé introduces significant engineering innovations, including billet-machined aluminium A-pillars, bonded structural glazing and an entirely new body architecture, while remaining remarkably lightweight.
Inside, the Coupé continues the Midsummer philosophy of handcrafted luxury, featuring teak, aluminium and leather throughout the cabin. As with the original Midsummer, each of the nine customer cars will be individually commissioned, ensuring every example is unique.
Commenting on the new model, Matthew Hole, Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company, said:
"The Midsummer Coupé represents another exciting step in our Special Projects programme, demonstrating what is possible when exceptional craftsmanship, innovative engineering and bespoke design come together."
The Midsummer Coupé is another reminder that Morgan continues to push the boundaries of traditional coachbuilding while remaining true to the values that have defined the company for more than 115 years.
