February 2025. South Wales Report.
It’s hard to write a report on activities when we are only meeting socially, a seasonal lull and the normal adverse weather at this time of the year always creates a void, we are almost through it now. Not a lot has happened in this coldest of seasons, we left Morganeering to the brave during the cold snowy months. Now the weather is set to change, spring will flourish and it’s time to get out the cars, dust them off, pump up those tyres and be ready for a new season. Early daffodils are blossoming and soon the woods will be filled with bluebells. The joy of that first drive out is almost with us.
The challenge is on, even on these still dark nights, to get out the maps and look for new runs. Traditionally we like to stay away from motorways and give the A and B roads an airing. Another must is a meeting point, somewhere with a coffee shop and a loo. The end point is usually somewhere to eat, making sure that the pub/restaurant knows we are coming and will be wanting to eat. A bit of surveillance may be needed, perhaps even test run, no hardship if there’s lunch at the end of the road.
A Bit of History. Morgan Plus 8.
In production for almost four decades, the Morgan Plus 8 is considered the car that saved the Morgan company with its success at a difficult time Morgan. The Plus 8 was deeply associated with Peter Morgan, the owner-chairman who was behind its design. Its development led by Maurice Owen. The Plus 8 had a thirty six years continuous production run, finishing in 2004. Born in 1968, the car was so successful that it required the acquisition of an entirely new factory to grow the space for production. The Plus 8 was revised between 2012 and 2018, with the Plus 8 available in a more modern configuration which even included an electric prototype.
Morgan magic, everyone knows its much loved shape and style, the car that makes you smile. Will it ever be brought into production again? Who knows.
Anniversary Event

A chance to catch up with old acquaintances and to meet new friends. Commemorative badges will be on sale at the venue or you can contact Dave Rymer if you fancy one for your badge bar.
On a more serious note.
It was interesting to read the article by Martin Richard (past MSCC Chair) in January’s magazine.
Martin was reminding us that MSCC does have a
‘Code of Conduct’ that members are asked to follow. The article reminded us that we should always treat others with respect and dignity within the club and on social media and in face to face encounters, whether we are at an MSCC event or communicating with someone outside the MSCC umbrella. We are all ambassadors for the club and for the Morgan brand. If you do have an issue or have had a bad experience, MSCC do have a procedure to help deal with any mediation that may be needed. We also have access to a Safeguarding Officer. Wearing my ‘trade union hat’ it’s a situation that seems to be growing in every walk of life. Remember you are not alone; exclusion, hate speech, misogyny and bullying can all be dealt with in an amicable manner. The message is a simple one. Don’t be a victim. Speak out.
That’s all from me this month. Please keep sending me your reports. I’m looking forward to all this years stories or helpful travel tips and snippets of information we might all enjoy.
